Knoxville District Member Spotlight

Each month, we will be working to introduce you to a Member of APTA TN’s Knoxville District.

We are excited to introduce you to other PTs/PTAs in the area and would love to highlight you or your colleagues.

Jennifer Cunningham PTA, BS

Did you know Jennifer’s journey to physical therapy started with a passion for history? After graduating from Powell High School and earning her Associates in Art, she realized her true calling wasn’t in the classroom—it was in helping people feel their best!
In 2009, she earned her A.S. as a PTA and quickly became a dedicated advocate for her patients and profession. Her colleagues saw her leadership potential and encouraged her to go back to school, where she completed her BS in Health Sciences in 2022.
Jennifer’s passion for the profession led her to the APTA, where she’s been a true force of nature! From attending her first district meeting as a student to being elected Chair of the PTA SIG in 2021 (a position she’s held ever since!), her dedication to our organization is unmatched. She’s also served as the Knoxville District Secretary and was recently elected as a Delegate at Large for the 2026 House of Delegates.
Jennifer’s tireless work helping patients and promoting the PTA’s role in the profession is why she was so deservingly named the 2023 PTA of the Year by the APTA-TN!
